Smokey Mountain Lacquer's St. Patrick's Day Duo

***Press Sample***

Valentine's Day is over - thus begins the time leading up to my favorite holiday of the year:  St. Patrick's Day!!!  I'm super excited, and even more so than usual because my best friend of 10+ years is coming to visit and will be here to celebrate with me!!  Squee!!!

Speaking of St. Pat's, I have a freakin' AMAZING duo to show you by Smokey Mountain Lacquers!!  Let me pre-empt the swatch porn by saying that SML recently reformulated and changed an ingredient in her polish, and now it is even more smooth than before, and not as thick.  It's a noticeable improvement from the old formula, even though I was one of the people that didn't run into any problems with it in the past.

Huzzah for new formula!!  Let's check it out in action!

First up: 2 Sheets To The Wind - first two photos are with regular topcoat, the second two are with a matte topcoat.

2 Sheets to the Wind is a fantastically bright green crelly with a green/lime shimmer, shown in the photos above in 2 easy breasy coats.  I *love* this one, but I especially love it mattified!!!!  The best part about 2 Sheets is that I can wear it year-round, and it's definitely suitable for summer flip flop months :D

And the second polish is: Fool's Gold (again, first 3 are regular topcoat, last 2 are matte)

Fool's Gold is a STUNNING multichrome shifting from a brown to gold to green with hints of blue.  Again, ridiculously smooth application, opaque in 2 coats.  I love me a good shifty chrome, and this one does so in every kind of lighting.  And I kinda dig the matte look - gives it a nice earthy tone :)

But wait, there's more!!

If you are not a member of the Smokey Mountain Lacquers Fan Group yet, you really should join.  Why?  Well besides the fact we are a fun bunch with a weekly contest for a gift code prize, you could win a dragon egg made by yours truly using the St. Patrick's Day Duo!!

One of the reasons I've been a bit radio silent lately is that I've started my own business selling Dragon Eggs, and it's been very successful so far!!  So I thought I'd donate one to get some more interaction and good people into a group that supports such a great polish brand!!

The long and short of how you can win this can all be found in the fan group!  :D

Getting back to the Duo, it goes live TODAY at 7pm CST!!!  The first 10 orders will receive a bonus gold and rhinestone nail charm <3  Here's all the links to the most important places:

What do you all think of the duo?  Let me know in the comments!!

Crazy 4 Crellies: Smokey Mountain Lacquers Customs

***Press Sample***

Quick post for you today as I have family visiting :)

Are you a fan of "crelly" polishes?  If your answer is "why yes, yes I am!" then you may want to think about joining the awesome group Crazy 4 Crellies on Facebook!  Crelly lovers far and wide come together to talk about them, share links to their favorites, and so much more - and the best part?  Every month is a special custom (or two!) made just for members of the group!  This month, the guest maker is Smokey Mountain Lacquers (a personal favorite brand of mine ^_^ ).  I was lucky enough to receive the two she made to swatch, and share with you today!

First up is "Under the Sea" - here's the inspiration pic:

And here's her result:

Under the Sea is a lovely medium/periwinkle-leaning blue filled with small blue hexagonal glitters, large white dots, and a lovely purple shimmer.  Opaque in 2-3 coats, depending on how thick you apply, and I recommend a good topcoat to smooth things out.

The second polish in the duo is "Enchanted Forest" - here's the inspiration pic:

And here's her result:

Enchanted Forest is a gorgeous forest green loaded with brown, gold, and green glitters and flakes as well as a beautiful blue shimmer.  This one is opaque in 1-2 coats, depending on how thick you apply.  This one is also my favorite of the two :D  It's just so SPARKLY!!!

These two will only be available through the end of April, and ONLY if you are a member of the group!!  Join here: Crazy 4 Crellies!!  Once you join, click on the "Events" tab at the top of the page and click "join" for the April group custom to be able to purchase one or both of these polishes.  Here are some social links for Smokey Mountain Lacquers:

Smokey Mountain Lacquers St. Patrick's Day Duo

***Press Sample***

Ahhhh good ole St. Patrick's Day - the day of the year where everyone is Irish (or, their interpretation of what it means to be Irish, which is apparently someone with red hair who drinks a lot, eats only corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, and soda bread, and dresses like a leprechaun).  I'm pretty sure this is also the one day of the year the Irish really don't like Americans :P

All jokesies aside, I have a gorgeous St. Patrick's Day duo to show you today by Smokey Mountain Lacquers!

This is a beautiful duo of a green cream and a citrine green glitter bomb.  Onward, to swatches!!

First up we'll check out "Shake Your Shamrocks:"

Shake Your Shamrocks is a gorgeous green cream thick enough to go on as a one-coater, but can also be applied in two thin coats (as shown above).  While upon application it seemed streaky, once it started to dry, everything leveled out very nicely and there were no bumps or streaks whatsoever - just a deliciously smooth green cream!

The second of the duo is "Lucky Charm:"

Direct Sunlight - kachow!!!!

Lucky Charm is a gorgeous citrine green holo microglittter bomb that is just astounding in the sunlight!  This one is opaque in two coats (as shown on the middle and ring fingers above), but can also be worn as a topper (as shown on the pointer and pinky fingers above over Shake Your Shamrocks).  This one dries a bit textured, so adding a generous topcoat will not only smooth things out, it will really make that holo pop!

I'll be uploading a video to my instagram today showing the intense sparkle of Lucky Charm, so keep your eyes peeled for it!

This fantastic duo will be launching tomorrow, Friday the 26th, at 7pm EST on the Smokey Mountain Lacquers website, linked below:

Also wanted to quickly mention that Smokey Mountain Lacquers also sells some pretty amazing soaps!!  With the St. Patrick's Day Duo, she sent me a bar of her lavender soap, and it is really quite nice :)  Smells amazing and leaves my skin the same!  I'll be posting a full review of it next week after I've been using it, but thought I'd also mention it now in case you want to pick up a bar when you pick up the duo ;)

So what do you think of the polish duo?  Let me know in the comments!

Smokey Mountain Lacquers Valentine's Duo

***Discount Code***

I cannot believe V-Day is already less than a week away.  Where the heck is 2016 going - is it being sucked into some time vortex??

I suppose I should start rolling in those Valentine's manis and such.  I'll start today with the Smokey Mountain Lacquers Valentine's Duo:

The duo is comprised of a lilac purple holo called "Heartbreaker"...

...and a lovely pink holo glitter bomb with a blue shimmer called "Put A Ring On It."

Heartbreaker went on smoothly, only requiring 2 coats for opacity.  It dried a bit textured, so a good topcoat smoothed everything out nicely.  Put A Ring On It spread out wonderfully for a glitterbomb offering excellent coverage!  Two coats for complete opacity for this one, and it also dried just a bit textured and required topcoat to make it smooth and really make that holo pop!  The hearts on my middle and ring fingers were made using Valentine's day vinyls from Sweet Lacquer.

All in all this duo is adorable!  I like that it is a less conventional duo, meaning it's not strictly pink or red.  I love that the lilac is a color suited for many occasions and holidays (I can definitely see it used in an Easter mani), and that the pink is a softer, more vintage pink than an in-your-face Barbie pink.  Way more versatile (and tolerable for me :P ).

You can pick up a full size or mini size of this duo here - there aren't many sets left!  You can also follow Smokey Mountain Lacquers through these links:

What do you think of these colors?  Do they suit V-day to you?  Let me know in the comments! <3

Duo was purchased by me using a discount code provided as a thank you for working with SML in previous press samples.  All opinions and experiences with the polish are my own and remain 100% honest.

Beauty Quartet Box + 4 - Part 2!

***Press Sample***

Hard to believe it's already halfway through September and that Halloween is next month!  The time has flown this year - but that's alright, because I *love* Halloween!!

It was especially exciting for me to have the opportunity to swatch the gorgeous polishes in the Halloween themed Beauty Quartet Box + 4 for October :D

Usually the Beauty Quartet Box features four indie nail polish brands, but for October, four additional brands contributed to the box, making it even MORE amazing!!  I've got the swatches of all the beauties for you, too!

Warning, it's about to get drool-worthy picture-heavy up in this post.

Let's start with the Smokey Mountain Lacquers contribution "Reborn:"

Reborn is described as a fuschia crelly with a hint of shimmer that is black light reflective.  I am wearing three thin coats in the photos above with a layer of Pahlish's Magic Mirror Topcoat.

Next is the Philly Loves Lacquer contribution "Burning Rain of Death:"

Burning Rain of Death is described as a black jelly base filled with a rainbow of micro glitter and holo sparkles.  I am wearing two coats, and this one dries to a textured finish, so I added a layer of topcoat to smooth it out a bit.

Next is the Rica contribution "Vampire Sangria:"

Vampire Sangria is described as a burgundy linear holo with a touch of gold holo microflakies.  Shown is two coats with topcoat.

Here is the Dollish Polish contribution "Welcome Foolish Mortals:"

Welcome Foolish Mortals is described as a black jelly with a hint of purple shimmer filled with matte aqua, blue, teal, periwinkle, amethyst, purple, and indigo glitters, with a hint of neon green and orange.  Shown above is two coats and topcoat.

Next is the Girly Bits contribution "Abracapocus:"

Abracapocus is described as a greyish/greenish holo base with green shimmer and orange, green, purple, and black glitters.  Shown above is two coats with topcoat.

Here is the My Indie Polish contribution "Blue Moon:"

Blue Moon is described as a cobalt holo jelly.  Shown above is two coats with topcoat.

Next is the Love, Angeline contribution "Boo!"

Boo! is described as an olive-leaning dark green linear holo with a gold flash.  Shown above is two coats with a topcoat.

And lastly we have the Gothic Gala Lacquers contribution "Sanguine Nocte:"

Sanguine Nocte is described as a burgundy with violet and red shimmer.  Shown above is two coats with topcoat.

So what do I think overall?  I think this is a fan-freakin-tastic box!!  Every polish applied well, and they are all gorgeous and fit perfectly with the Halloween theme.  Two polished thumbs way up!!

And all the art is freehanded by me ^_^  I couldn't help it, these polishes just called for it!!

This box will be available for pre-order tomorrow, September 15th via the Philly Loves Lacquer website and will be open until September 30th (or until all the boxes are sold).  There will be 50 boxes available, priced as follows: $65 shipped to anywhere in the US, $70 shipped to Canada, and $75 shipped everywhere else.  They will be shipped at the beginning of October, so they should arrive at your doorstep in plenty of time for Halloween.  Set your alarms!!!

What do you think of this box?  Do the polishes strike your fancy?  Will you be picking one up?
