*Press Release*: Gothic Gala Lacquers 5th of November Collection Swatches & Review

***PRESS RELEASE***

"Remember, remember the 5th of November
of gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be Forgot..."
     - Alan Moore

One of my all-time favorite films is V for Vendetta.  When the movie came out, I saw it four times in theatres (I used to work at one, which meant free movies!!).  I just loved everything about the movie, from the characters to the storyline, to the overall message behind it.  It is a terrific and very well done film.

That being said, when I saw that Samantha over at Gothic Gala Lacquers had created a collection based on the film, I was ecstatic, and may or may not have squealed and clapped my hands together like a giddy school girl.  I was even more excited when she asked *me* to swatch the collection for her!!  I'm no fool - I happily, and very eagerly accepted - again, possibly squealing and clapping with more vigor...

So without further ado, let me show you the gorgeous colors of this collection!  There are four polishes in total.  Brace yourself for some photo porn - I've got 10 pictures for each polish AND art!

We will start with The 5th of November:

Outdoors

Indoors

5th of November is a beautiful color-shifting chrome packed with gold, purple, and the occasional blue micro glitter.  This polish applied very smoothly, was dry in under 5 minutes, and was opaque in two coats, though I put on three because I felt it added more depth to the color.  The polish dried to a shiny finish, as seen in the photos above.

Next up is Vendetta:

Outdoors

Indoors

Vendetta is a black jelly with a gold shimmer and packed to the brim with red and purple micro glitters.  This polish was also very easy to applicate, and was opaque in three coats for me, drying in under five minutes to a shiny finish, as seen in the photos above, with a very, very light texture from the glitter.  One coating of topcoat will get rid of that.

Third up is E-V:

Outdoors

Indoors

E-V is a grey crelly polish with large and small matte white and shiny pink round glitters, as well as a subtle purple shimmer.  This color applied very smoothly and dried in under 5 minutes to a shiny finish, as seen in the photos above, and took two coats to be opaque.

And lastly we have Remember, Remember:

Outdoors

Indoors

Remember, remember is a gorgeous fuchsia pink jelly with a subtle blue shimmer in direct sunlight.  Also very smooth application, dried in under 5 minutes to a shiny finish, and mostly opaque after three coats (you could still see the whites of the fingernails at certain angles).

The Ups:  All of these polishes have a great formula.  They all dried quickly, none of them stained my nails or the surrounding skin, application was very smooth, and the colors are just gorgeous!!  If you are familiar with the movie and remember it well, you can definitely see where Samantha drew her inspiration for these polishes, and she did a fabulous job!!

The Downs:  To be honest, the only "down" I had with these polishes came with E-V and the fact the larger pieces of glitter seemed to fall to the bottom of the bottle.  However, a minute or two of holding the bottle upside-down and rubbing it back and forth solved that problem completely!

Overall:  These polishes are fantastic!!!  I highly recommend each and every one of them! Samantha did an excellent job creating a polish for everyone - each polish is so unique and stands apart from the rest, but they all flow together in this collection.  You would be very wise to snag these up!!

The 5th of November collection launched today (for obvious reasons), and can be purchased as a set for $33.00!  Here are some links for you where you can purchase the polishes from this collection, as well as keep up-to-date with the company:

Polish Post: Model City Polish "Pour Me Another" and Mystery Polish Swatches, Review, and Nail Art

Good Morning (or Afternoon/Evening, wherever you are :D )  Hope you all survived your Monday and are ready to seize the rest of the week!  Today I've got three polishes from Model City Polish to show you.  The first polish is a Limited Edition called "Pour Me Another:"

Pour me Another, I believe, was made for the creator's venture to Cosmoprof in Las Vegas a little while ago.  It's a beautiful red-wine colored crelly packed full of holographic awesomesauce.  Opaque in 3 thin coats for me, application was a dream (as usual), and dried fairly quickly to a nice shine (no topcoat in the pics above).  There was NO staining, either, which I certainly appreciate, considering a lot of polishes in this color tend to stain.  Lovely polish, and since it is Limited Edition, it won't be around much longer - in fact, I'm almost positive whatever is in the shop right now is all that is left, and it is showing a small amount is available.  Better get one now! :)

Last week I ordered a "Mystery Bag" she put together with two unreleased polishes in very limited quantities.  The polishes are unnamed, so here is Mystery Polish number 1:

At first I thought this polish may look good as a glitter topper, so when I applied the first layer, I left "Pour Me Another" on my pinky and pointer fingers to see what it would look like over that color.  It does not look good as a glitter topper :P  So I went ahead and applied two more coats to all the nails to bring it to opacity.  This polish reminds me of rainbow asphalt.  The polish is packed with black, silver, and holographic micro glitters, and looks really gorgeous in full sunlight.  I like that it is different from any other polish I have - I bet it would look great on the toesies ^_^  It dried to a light texture, so I added two thin layers of topcoat to even it out and make is shiny.

And here is Mystery Polish number 2:

Outdoors

Indoors

Sometimes I can't stand how "shiny" my cuticles and the skin around my nails looks when I apply cuticle oil before pictures :P  Just looks silly to me.

So, normally I don't reach for white or any other sort of solid colored crelly that is packed with glitters.  In general, I just don't like them as much, and always thought they'd apply weirdly or look funky.  My mind has been changed now, thanks to this polish.  When I first unwrapped it, to be honest, my initial thought was, "Oh, man, a white crelly :( " I decided to swatch it anyway, since I hadn't ever worn one before.  I fell in love, I really did.  The application was so smooth, and these bar glitters were not a hassle, nor did they clump together.  They spread out nice and evenly, and this polish was opaque in 2 coats.  There was a very, very light texture from the glitters, so I added a topcoat to make it smooth.  I'm very glad this polish was in the mystery pack, because I have never given these types a chance, and now I most certainly will!

The second mystery polish reminded me of something, too, when I saw it - ice cream!!  So I did some nail art with it ^_^  Check it out!

The pastel colors are Love You (middle pink, smells like strawberry daiquiri), Here I Go (blue ring, smells like fruit punch), and Octopus (pinky, smells like grape) - all by the brand Finger Lickin' Lacquer.

She is out of her mystery bags, though I'm sure she will probably do it again in the near future.  As I said before, though, there are still a few of those LE Pour Me Another polishes left, and I would seriously go grab one now.  She always ships her product promptly, too - I got a tracking number a few hours after I placed my order with her.  Seriously, amazing!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!!  See you all tomorrow <3
