For the one-year anniversary of the Beauty Quartet Box, Kim of Smokey Mountain Lacquers and I decided to make a super-sized box to celebrate! So we came up with the BQB+4.

It will include 8 exclusive limited edition bottles of nail polish from Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquers, and Rica, Dollish Polish, Gothic Gala Lacquers, Love Angeline, Girly Bits, and My Indie Polish.

And now for some helpful FAQ's!

Q: Why did you choose to do 8 makers and 8 polishes instead of the normal 4 makers and 4 polishes/4extras?
A: we wanted to make a special box to celebrate the BQB's one-year anniversary, so we included 2015's favorite guests, as well as two well-known Canadian indie brands. 

Q: Is this a subscription?
A: No! The BQB is a pre-order, and will be available from September 15th until September 30th, or if we run out of our cap of 50 boxes sooner. 

Q: Will you sell more than 50 boxes?
A: Possibly. If we sell out quickly, and there's a high demand, we may release some more sets. 

Q: Where can I buy the BQB+4? Will it be available in all the maker's shops?
A: No, it will only be available for purchase at www.phillyloveslacquer.com

Q: When will the BQB+4 ship? Will I get it by Halloween?
A: The BQB+4 will ship in the beginning of October, once I receive all of the makers' contributions. You will receive tracking information as soon as the box ships. I am reasonably certain that you will in fact receive the box by Halloween.

Q: Will the polishes in the box be available individually or outside of the box? 
A: All of the polishes in the BQB/BQB+4 are exclusive to the box, and will not be made available individually outside of the BQB. However, some of us do choose to sell our extra bottles in mystery bags, but we cannot guarantee this will be the case. 

Q: Why can't I redeem PhLL Rewards Points on my BQB/BQB+4 orders? Will I still earn my points?
A: Since the BQB/BQB+4 is a combined effort between several makers, and the proceeds are shared amongst them, redeeming reward points specific to PhLL is not fair to the rest of the box participants. However, you can absolutely earn points with your purchase, which will be usable on future orders that do not contain a BQB, prototype, or mystery bag.

Q: Do any of the makers in the BQB use the harmful base that Mentality uses? 
A: No. We can all safely say that we do not use the same base, and can provide confirmation from our suppliers to back up our claim, if needed.

Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Summer Colors!

Hello lovely folks!  I know it's been a while since my last post - things in my life personally have changed drastically and have interfered a bit with my blogging.  BUT!  They are leveling off now!  I should be back to a more regular posting schedule soon ^_^

To make up for my absence, I wanted to show you three polishes from the upcoming Summer Collection to be released by Octopus Party Nail Lacquer this Saturday the 30th!  Let's get right to them!

First up: "Piece of Caicos"

Piece of Caicos is a lovely light blue/teal holographic polish with blue flakies spread throughout.  Opaque in 2-3 coats, depending on how thick you apply it, and dries in under five minutes to a shiny finish.

Next up: "Bermuda High"

Bermuda High is a stunning hot red holographic polish with a blue flash.  Also opaque in 2-3 coats, it dries to a shiny finish in under 5 minutes.

Lastly, we have: "Aruba Wakening"

And here are some sun shots to show off that holo! (I'd have sunshots of the others had the sun actually come out to play while I was swatching them >.< )

Aruba Wakening is a gorgeous seafoam/mint green with an intense holographic effect.  Opaque in 2-3 coats, it also dries in under 5 minutes to a shiny finish.

These polishes overall are fantastic!  Application was super smooth, as is always the case with OPNL's, and the formula is solid.  Really terrific polishes!!

The Summer Collection consists of 8 polishes: 7 holographic colors and one rainbow glitter flakie topper.  The collection launches this Saturday, May 30th at 1pm EST in the OPNL Etsy Shop.  I suggest setting an alarm - these suckers tend to fly off the shelves pretty darn fast!

Press Release: Beauty Pitch at Cosmoprof!

For those of you with interests in the Professional Beauty Association and Cosmoprof, this post is right up your alley!

The Professional Beauty Association (PBA), the industry's largest non-profit organization of salon professionals, partnered with Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), the leading international business-to-business beauty trade show, to launch the ultimate brand presentation for beauty entrepreneurs at PBA Beauty Week 2015.  A first of its kind, The Beauty Pitch offers up-and-coming and established companies alike the unique opportunity to present their brand, products or ideas to a panel of top investors including renowned entrepreneurs Mark Cuban and Jean Paul DeJoria.  Five finalists will have the chance to pitch to the panel live as part of PBA's Business Forum on July 12th, 2015 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.  One winner will receive a one-year mentorship from Mark Cuban and/or another will receive possible funding from a reputable private equity firm.

"The Beauty Pitch brings the concept of ABC's Shark Tank to PBA Beauty Week giving beauty entrepreneurs access to potential financial support and mentoring from acclaimed businessmen," says PBS chairmen Scott Buchanan.  "We are thrilled to have the support of Mark, JP, and the investment community to present this unique opportunity to the professional beauty industry."

Cuban served as the keynote speaker during PBA's Business Forum in 2014, but this year's event will be the first for DeJoria.  To kick off the Beauty Pitch, Cuban and DeJoria will share their advice on business practices and answer questions from the audience with Buchanan serving as the moderator.  The event will then be followed by the live pitches from the finalists.

"I'm thrilled to return to CPNA and PBA Beauty Week as I have a vested interest in building my industry knowledge to further support the three beauty brands I currently own and mentoring one winning brand from the Beauty Pitch to success," says Mark Cuban.

The Beauty Pitch is now accepting submissions.  Beauty Pitch contest entries must be submitted online by May 4th, 2015 at 9:00am EDT.  For official rules, entry fees, and details, see beautypitch.com/rules and follow #BeautyPitch for updates.  Finalists will be selected by an internal panel of judges consisting of industry professionals, program hosts, and investors.  The five finalists will be announced on May 22, 2015.

Ticket registration for PBA's Business Forum, including the Beauty Pitch, will open in April ($60 for PBA members, $70 for non-members).  Ticket prices include a full buffet-style breakfast, which will be served at 7:00am.  Cuban and DeJoria will take the stage from 8:00am to 9:45am in the Mandalay Bay Ballroom on July 12th, 2015.

*Press Release* : Gothic Gala Lacquers Golden Globe Duo

Hello all!  So sorry for my absence - right as I was getting into something fun with the Untried Challenge (still happening, fyi), I was thrown a lot of crap by life to handle all at once, and fell a bit behind here.  So!  I'm gonna make up for it, now that the dust has settled a bit :D

Instead of another Untried today, I wanted to give you all a first-look at an incredibly beautiful duo created by Gothic Gala Lacquers for the Golden Globes press packets!

 These two polishes are GORGEOUS!!  Let's get right to them, shall we?  First up is "Cashmere:"

Cashmere is a gorgeous, soft grey with flecks of silvery purple and dark blue micro glitter.  It applies very smoothly despite being a little thick, and only took 2 coats to be completely opaque.  The polish dried in under five minutes to a nice shiny finish, though I did apply a clear topcoat in the photos.

The other beauty in this duo is "Pashmina:"

Pashmina is my favorite of the two - and the one I got tons of complements on from my friends in archery!  It is a beautiful royal sapphire blue with tons of shimmer outdoors AND indoors!  This polish applied very smoothly and took 3 coats to achieve opacity (this formula is thinner than Cashmere).  Pashmina also dried in under five minutes to a semi shiny finish, but is shown in the photos with a clear topcoat.

I bet I surprise you (in a good way) when I do two posts in one day - but what can I say?  When I'm excited about something, I post about it as soon as I can :D

KBShimmer is a brand I have always wanted to try, because I constantly hear nothing but good things about their nail polish.  So when I was contacted about receiving sample of the new polish "Men are from Mars-ala" - created after Pantone's Color of the Year "Marsala"- I didn't hesitate to say YES PLEASE!!

I'm so excited to receive this sample, not just because it will be my first KBShimmer, but because the color is divine!!  I normally go for more jewel-toned polishes (if you haven't noticed:P ), but sometimes there a more neutral shade that I find is very beautiful - and this is one of those times!

Last week I had the privilege of featuring three beautiful polishes by the brand new indie Bellaluna Cosmetics (if you missed it you can read it here).  I have two more to show you today, and they are just as stunning as the first three!

Here is "Enchanted Woodlands:"

Enchanted Woodlands is a gorgeous deep red polish packed full of red, gold, and holographic glitters.  The polish dried in under 5 minutes to a semi textured finish.  I am wearing one thick coat of HK Girl Glisten & Glow topcoat in the photos above.  Let me tell you - you step into any kind of light, indoors and outdoors, and this polish sparkles like diamonds - it's a definite wowzer!

The second polish I have to show you is "Starry Night:"

This polish is also quite a sparkly stunner!  Starry Night is a beautiful navy blue polish with a scattered holographic effect and packed with blue and silver glitters.  It is opaque in three thin coats, and dry in under 5 minutes to a semi shiny finish.  In the photos I am also wearing a thin layer of HK Girl Glisten & Glow topcoat.  This polish has become my new favorite navy blue glitter - it is absolutely stunning!  I'll be uploading a video to my Instagram later today that will show the lovely sparklies of this polish in direct sunlight.

These two polishes are just as fantastic as the first three I posted about.  This indie brand is really making a great first impression!  The formula is superb, the colors are so stunning - this brand is an all around win!  You would be very, very wise to keep Bellaluna Cosmetics on your radar - and go snag some polish now before they are all gone!!  I believe she has two in her shop now that are Limited Edition - better hurry! :)
