Nail Hoot's "Owl Be Yours"

***Press Sample***

Hey you lovely people!  I've been spending my last month cleaning my house top to bottom - my church is having a rummage sale and it's the best excuse for me to finally have gone through the mountains of boxes in each room.  I've also been re-arranging furniture so I can move all my nail art/blogging equipment etc. to a proper office and it will all be in one place!  Woo hoo!!

So, apologies for the absence, but it feels *so good* to have made some progress on my house :D  And I'm still having to do all this on my own around 3 small children, since the hubs is still working out of state.  It's a miracle I've made any progress at all :P

Let's get to some pretty polish!!

Nail Hoot sent me an absolutely lovely Valentine's polish called Owl Be Yours, and I've got some swatches for you!!

Owl Be Yours is a lovely pink polish with yellow iridescent glitters and a holographic effect throughout (it is more subtle indoors, but outdoors it's pretty stunning!!).  Opaque in 2-3 coats depending on how thick you apply it, and dries to a nice shine.

I would have had outdoor shots for you if the weather didn't decide to be uncharacteristically overcast for nearly a week straight.  I gotta work on getting some LED lights so I can show you all the holo a lot better indoors.

This lovely polish is available now!!  Here's the shop link and such:

What do you think??  Are you getting any special polish for Valentine's Day?  Let me know in the comments!! <3

Nail Art with DRK

I'm feeling like Super Poop today, so I'm gonna make this short and sweet :)  I decided to create a mani using several products from recent purchases that were too awesome to leave sitting on my shelf of nail art paraphernalia.  Here is the result!

Base Coat: "Joyful" by Parrot Polish (desk clear, not available in the shop)
Stamping Polish: "Sangria" by DRK
Holographic Accent Polish: "Rainbow Spill" by Polish Your Dreams
Glitter Accent Polish: "Wish" by Cupcake Polish

I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out :)  Honestly had no idea what I was going to do, just kind of went along with it as it happened.  What do you think of this mani?

Nail Hoot Anniversary Duo!

***Press Sample***

The plague is upon me and my household.  I feel like we all need bells to ring while walking around, shouting, "Unclean!  Unlcean!" in public.

Okay, so maybe it's not THAT bad, but it *is* bronchitis, and that's pretty bad when you've got younglings, one that is not even 3 months old yet.  Lemme tell ya folks, it's not fun, and it's definitely slowed down any nail polish progress I had in mind for this week.

BUT!

I am jumping on today to at least share with you a beautiful duo by Nail Hoot created in celebration of her brand's one year anniversary/birthday!  Hooray!!

The first polish in the duo is "Look Whoo's Turning One:"

Look Whoo's Turning One is a gorgeous purple/blue duochrome with holographic glitters.  Opaque in 2 coats and dries in under 5 minutes.  I recommend a topcoat to help bring out the sparkle and shimmer.

The second polish in the duo is, "Whooo Wants Cake?"

Whooo Wants Cake is a lovely green/purple duochrome with holographic glitters.  Also opaque in two coats, drying under 5 minutes, and extra sparkly with an added topcoat :)

This duo is available purchased together or separately at the shop link below.  The brand is also offering their biggest discount yet - 15% off all items (excluding the new duo) with the code NailHootAnniversary - the code is good through Saturday the 19th.  Here are some links for you:

I would like to wish Brandie, creator of Nail Hoot, a very happy 1-year Brandiversary!!  It's wonderful to see an indie blossom with such grace and beauty, and I look forward to seeing what she will be creating this next year!!

What do you think of this duo?  Let me know in the comments!

Faeries & Folklore Myth of the Month - March

***Press Sample***

Faeries & Folklore Nail Polish has come up with something pretty awesome - she is calling it a "Myth of the Month."  Each month, on the 1st, a polish will be released that connect with some sort of mythological creature :)  This month's is a mermaid.

Now, we all know mermaids totally exist, but for the sake of the product, we'll pretend it's a myth ;)

Without further ado, I give you "Mermaids Can't Dance:"

Sunlight shot to catch that subtle holo!

Mermaids Can't Dance is a gorgeous teal green with a subtle scattered holographic shimmer throughout.  This applied very well and is opaque in 2-3 coats - I am wearing two thin ones in the photos, and you can still see some VNL in certain lighting.  Mermaids dried to a little bit of a textured finish, but a good thick topcoat will smooth things out very nicely :)  I am wearing one generous coat of LACC's topcoat.

Mermaids Can't Dance will be available later today and throughout the month of March - here's where you can purchase it and follow the brand:

What do you think of this polish?  Does it tickle your fancy?  Let me know in the comments! <3

Smokey Mountain Lacquers St. Patrick's Day Duo

***Press Sample***

Ahhhh good ole St. Patrick's Day - the day of the year where everyone is Irish (or, their interpretation of what it means to be Irish, which is apparently someone with red hair who drinks a lot, eats only corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, and soda bread, and dresses like a leprechaun).  I'm pretty sure this is also the one day of the year the Irish really don't like Americans :P

All jokesies aside, I have a gorgeous St. Patrick's Day duo to show you today by Smokey Mountain Lacquers!

This is a beautiful duo of a green cream and a citrine green glitter bomb.  Onward, to swatches!!

First up we'll check out "Shake Your Shamrocks:"

Shake Your Shamrocks is a gorgeous green cream thick enough to go on as a one-coater, but can also be applied in two thin coats (as shown above).  While upon application it seemed streaky, once it started to dry, everything leveled out very nicely and there were no bumps or streaks whatsoever - just a deliciously smooth green cream!

The second of the duo is "Lucky Charm:"

Direct Sunlight - kachow!!!!

Lucky Charm is a gorgeous citrine green holo microglittter bomb that is just astounding in the sunlight!  This one is opaque in two coats (as shown on the middle and ring fingers above), but can also be worn as a topper (as shown on the pointer and pinky fingers above over Shake Your Shamrocks).  This one dries a bit textured, so adding a generous topcoat will not only smooth things out, it will really make that holo pop!

I'll be uploading a video to my instagram today showing the intense sparkle of Lucky Charm, so keep your eyes peeled for it!

This fantastic duo will be launching tomorrow, Friday the 26th, at 7pm EST on the Smokey Mountain Lacquers website, linked below:

Also wanted to quickly mention that Smokey Mountain Lacquers also sells some pretty amazing soaps!!  With the St. Patrick's Day Duo, she sent me a bar of her lavender soap, and it is really quite nice :)  Smells amazing and leaves my skin the same!  I'll be posting a full review of it next week after I've been using it, but thought I'd also mention it now in case you want to pick up a bar when you pick up the duo ;)

So what do you think of the polish duo?  Let me know in the comments!
