Nail Hoot's "Owl Be Yours"

Hey you lovely people!  I've been spending my last month cleaning my house top to bottom - my church is having a rummage sale and it's the best excuse for me to finally have gone through the mountains of boxes in each room.  I've also been re-arranging furniture so I can move all my nail art/blogging equipment etc. to a proper office and it will all be in one place!  Woo hoo!!

So, apologies for the absence, but it feels *so good* to have made some progress on my house :D  And I'm still having to do all this on my own around 3 small children, since the hubs is still working out of state.  It's a miracle I've made any progress at all :P

Let's get to some pretty polish!!

Nail Hoot sent me an absolutely lovely Valentine's polish called Owl Be Yours, and I've got some swatches for you!!

Owl Be Yours is a lovely pink polish with yellow iridescent glitters and a holographic effect throughout (it is more subtle indoors, but outdoors it's pretty stunning!!).  Opaque in 2-3 coats depending on how thick you apply it, and dries to a nice shine.

I would have had outdoor shots for you if the weather didn't decide to be uncharacteristically overcast for nearly a week straight.  I gotta work on getting some LED lights so I can show you all the holo a lot better indoors.

Well let's look at some pretties while we all digest and recover from food comas :D

I've got the gorgeous Christmas Carols collection by Nail Hoot to show you this fine morning, so let's get right to it!

First up: "Angels We Have Heard on High"

Angels We Have Heard on High is a red-toned purple with a gold shimmer, opaque in 2 coats.

Next up: "Away In A Manger"

Away In A Manger is a baby blue with a pink and aqua shimmer, opaque in 2 coats.

Next: "Joy To The World"

Joy To The World is a seafoam/granny apple green with a pink shimmer, opaque in 2-3 coats.

Here we have: "O Come All Ye Faithful"

O Come All Ye Faithful is a light pink/champagne-leaning color with pink and golden highlights, opaque in 2 coats.

And finally: "O Holy Night"

O Holy Night is a deep royal blue that shifts to purple with a subtle holographic effect throughout, opaque in 2 coats.

There are so many beautiful polishes in this collection that it is nearly impossible to choose a favorite!!  I definitely love the pastels of Joy To The World and Away In A Manger, but man, O Holy Night is a STUNNER in person!  Gorgeous, the lot of them!

Nail Hoot: The Fancy Floral Collection

Recently I was sent a new collection to review by Nail Hoot, and I was thrilled when I opened them because they are every jewel-toned color I adore (even the pink! *GASP*!).

Meet the Fancy Floral Collection!  Each polish is inspired by a type of flower, and they are all just lovely - and a welcome change of pace from the neons that seem to be taking over (not that that's a bad thing - I sure do love my neons!!).  So let's take a look at some swatch porn!!

First up: "Blue Geranium:

Blue Geranium is a lovely deep blue with lots of shine and shimmer.  Pretty easy to apply this one - it spread out nicely with no clumping, though it was a *tad* on the thicker side.  Not enough to make it a pain to work with though.  This was opaque in 2 coats for me.

Next up: "Hanging Fuchsia"

Hanging Fuchsia is a lovely light pink with a pinky/purple shimmer.  Also opaque in 2 coats.

Next: "

Midnight Sun Pansy is a gorgeous chocolate brown with a subtle gold shimmer.  I just love this one - it was my favorite of the whole collection :)  Opaque in 2 coats.

Here we have "Morning Glory"

Morning Glory is a fabulous purple with a strong blue shimmer - it actually looks more like a blurple in person, it's so lovely!  Opaque in 2 coats.

And lastly we have "Tiger Lily"

No, not THAT Tiger Lily, silly!

Tiger Lily is a fantastic orange-to-red shifting polish with a subtle pink shimmer - it looks JUST like the colors of the flower!!  This one is a close second for my favorite in this collection :D  Opaque in 3 coats for me.

Overall, this collection is lovely!  She did a wonderful job in creating polish that matches the colors in their floral inspirations.  Two polished thumbs up!

Okay, so maybe it's not THAT bad, but it *is* bronchitis, and that's pretty bad when you've got younglings, one that is not even 3 months old yet.  Lemme tell ya folks, it's not fun, and it's definitely slowed down any nail polish progress I had in mind for this week.

Look Whoo's Turning One is a gorgeous purple/blue duochrome with holographic glitters.  Opaque in 2 coats and dries in under 5 minutes.  I recommend a topcoat to help bring out the sparkle and shimmer.

Whooo Wants Cake is a lovely green/purple duochrome with holographic glitters.  Also opaque in two coats, drying under 5 minutes, and extra sparkly with an added topcoat :)
