HPB Presents Halloween!

I'll admit it, for the *longest* time, I hated spiders.  With a passion.  My back would seize up whenever I saw one, mostly because every time I would have instant flashbacks to when I was 6 living in Virginia and decided to go out on my deck.  Had no idea that every feckin' spider in the neighborhood had decided to lay their eggs on our deck, and all the little spiderlings decided to hatch at the same time and march in a giant wave of tiny horror across the entire deck - up my legs, into my shorts and shirt, and into my hair.  You cannot simply brush tiny spiders the size of crumbs off of yourself, so I did the next logical thing - I screamed like hell, ran inside to the bathroom, and turned on the water, clothes and all.

Scarred for life at the age of 6.  It's only been in the last two years that I've finally gotten over my huge fear of them - I blame the scorpions for that.  Dealing with those shrunken deformed lobsters from Hell is so much worse than a spider.  Spiders are cake compared.

So, in light of my recovery from spiders, I decided to do a spider design inspired by @BruisedUpDollie and @nailsbykball on Instagram for the Hobby Polish Bloggers October link-up!  Check it out:

I did a base coat of the one-coat wonder "I See France" by Digital Nails and watermarbled web designs using a silver by OPI and "Clearwater" by Pipe Dream Polish.  I then glued orange gemstones to each nail and hand painted the spider legs with acrylic paint.  I think they turned out pretty nifty, though the watermarble web look was a PITA for me.  I'm still trying to get the whole watermarbling thing down.

Whatcha think of this design?  Have you done anything similar for this Halloween season?  Be sure to check out all the other awesome Halloween designs by some of the members of Hobby Polish Bloggers through the inlinkz below!!

Crotch Ice on Idris

I know, funky title, right?  I just lack the mojo to come up with something interesting :P

Today is just a small post showing you a very simple mani using Crotch Ice and Idris by Digital Nails ^_^

I purchased Idris a while ago when I did a huge Digital Nails buy during a sale, and finally had the opportunity to wear it and pair it with Crotch Ice to give it a rich look, almost opalescent.  Crotch Ice is a wonderful flakie bomb that, if layered over a dark grey or black, would probably most definitely look like an opal.  But everyone's doing that lately since that crazy colorful opal has been making the rounds on the internets.  And I don't do what everyone else does.  Because I'm an adult, and I do what I want.  So there.

I decided to add this super awesome 3d cube jewel I recently purchased through Ali Express because it seemed like a neat, unconventional addition to the mani.  That sucker didn't stay on long, it caught on EVERYTHING.  But I'll be damned if I didn't admit it looked pretty shweet.

Whatcha think?? Are you a 3d nail art fan?

The Unicorn Cahoots Duo - an Ellagee and Digital Nails Collaboration

***An Enchanted Press Sample***

Once Upon A Time, in an Indie land far, far, away - and south, like the Texas-ish area of far, far, away - two ladies with glitter in their veins, from the Kingdoms of Digital Nails and Ellagee,  collaborated to bring the world a box like no other.  A box full of magic, wonder, and rainbow poop, and it would be called "The Unicorn Cahoots Duo."

This box contained a variety of all things Unicorns, from the rainbow colored sugar pills of the unicorn's diet, to two unique nail polishes whose recipes are known only to those chosen by the unicorns.  I have been chosen to share this story with you, and grant you the opportunity to capture one of these rare duos for yourself!

Three unicorns (not included in the box) regaled the tail to me of the contents of this elusive box.  The first unicorn of gold and silver showed me one of the very special additions - 8 of the tiniest unicorns in the world, captured and transformed into charms, one side silver, the other side bronze:

Frozen in Battle

The second unicorn of Porcelain and Spring Flowers shared with me the two unique polishes in this box:

The first of these polishes is called "Unicorn Soup" and was created by Digital Nails:

I was in awe of the incredible coverage in just once coat of this Unicorn Soup, the variety of colors and shapes, and the quick dry time!

The second of these polishes is "Sir Twinkle Toes," created by Ellagee:

The magic of Sir Twinkle Toes lies in the chrome flakies and holographic glitter throughout this purple jelly polish, opaque in just three thin coats.

I affixed one of the tiny unicorns to this polish - it seemed happy to reside there:

I also re-created the story of two battling unicorns on my nails, using the special polishes and tiny unicorns:

The final gift in this box of sparkles, magic, and happiness was bestowed upon me by the final unicorn of Green Metal - a pile of its rainbow poo, named Charlie:

I know, that's quite a lot of poo for such a small unicorn.  He was holding it in for me.

Charlie now resides upon my desk, bringing me happy rainbow smiles in times I am feeling down.

The contents of this box are so special, so magical, that they can only be contained in 50 boxes total, 25 for each Indie Kingdom of Ellagee and Digital Nails.  They will be released for humans alike at 6pm CSIFFAT (Central Standard Indie Far Far Away Time).

And that is the tale of the Unicorn Cahoots Duo...perhaps your tale will be different should you come into possession of one :)

The Unicorn Duo was sent to me via portal from the Digital Nails Kingdom of Indie Far Far Away in order for me to regale the tail in 100% honesty and truth.  Therefore, this story and all its content is my own and of my own experience.

Polish Post: The Festive Fortification Box

A few weeks ago, Ellagee and Digital Nails put out the Limited Edition Festive Fortification box.  In this awesome box was a polish from each company, a sparkly hair tie, and some super sparkly rhinestones - all for $20 including shipping!  So, you know, of course I got one ;)  And I have swatches of the beautiful polishes for you!

We'll start with Ellagee's "Garrison of Glitz:"

Outdoors

Indoors

Garrison of Glitz is a gorgeous teal/pine green jelly packed with all sorts of green, blue, and holographic glitter shapes and sizes.  It is absolutely stunning!  Opaque in 3 thin coats, though the glitters can be a little stubborn and may need some encouragement to spread out and not cluster.  Dries to a semi-textured finish, so a generous layer of topcoat would even it out nicely and really make it sparkle and shine :)

The polish by Digital Nail is "Bastion of Bling:"

Outdoors

Indoors

Bastion of Bling is a beautiful deep berry red jelly glitter bombed with red, blue, and holographic glitters.  Opaque in 3 thin coats, this one also dries to a semi-textured finish.  I topped it (and Garrison of Glitz) with a generous layer of HK Girl Glisten and Glow topcoat to make it nice and shiny :)  The sparkle really pops on this one!!  And the red seems to deepen in color when indoors, which is pretty neat!

I have yet to use the rhinestones but they are the perfect size for nail art - not too big that it's dang near impossible not to knock one off shortly after applying, and not too small that it's hardly noticeable.  And I've always liked the hair ties that Digital Nails makes, because they don't leave a kink in my hair :D  Overall, it's a great box!!  I'm really glad I ordered one, especially since they are already sold out!

While you cannot get this duo anymore, both shops still offer a lot of fantastic polishes!!  Ellagee just released some new flakies and still have the sparkling gemstones collections available - though the shop is on vacation from December 2nd through the 18th  (orders can still be placed, but nothing will be re-stocked or shipped during this time).  Here are some links for you:
