Ellagee's The Purple One and Daddy Pop + Nail Art

***Press Sample***

Any Prince fans in the house?  If you are waving your arms frantically in the air (in your mind) to show Yes! you are a Prince fan! then this post is for you!  Laura of Ellagee is also a Prince fan and created a special collection called The Arist full of purple and gold polishes inspired by him.  I've got two of those to show you today!

Whenever I think of Prince I think of the movie Pretty Women and the scene when she's singing Kiss in the bathtub :D  So I've had that song stuck in my head since editing these photos :P

The first of the two polishes to show you is called "The Purple One:"

 (Ambient Sunlight)

The Purple One is a gorgeous royal purple holo with a golden shimmer throughout.  Opaque in two coats, it applies smoothly, evenly, and dries to a semi shiny finish.

I decided to add some nail art to these, since it's Prince and all, and he is The Arist ;)  So I used an image of his profile from google and inverted it in my photoshop program:

I then painted the inverted profile onto my nails:

If you take my nail art and invert it again, it looks very close to the original:

Eh, it was fun :P  I used the second polish, "Daddy Pop," as a glitter accent on the tips:

Daddy Pop dries to a semi-textured finished, so a nice layer or two of a glossy topcoat, like HK Girl, will finish the look nicely.

So what do you think of these polishes?  Do you feel they represent The Artist well?  You can find these two polishes with the rest of the collection Here.  You can also follow her on Instagram Here and Facebook Here, and join the Facebook fan group Here for group customs and sneak peaks!

Polish Post: Darling Diva "Please Stand By," "...Is Boring," and "OMGBFD" Swatches & Review

I am so very thankful the weather is *finally* cooling down here in the desert - so much so I can actually leave my air conditioning off!  What?!  Crazy!!

Today I've got three polishes to show you from a new-to-me indie brand called Darling Diva Polish.  In my recent order with the brand, I chose a "Mystery Bag" option where I received 5 full-sized mystery polishes for $25.  These three polishes are from that mystery bag, and wowza, I got some goooood colors!!

The first color is called, "Please Stand By."

Outdoors

Indoors

Please Stand By is a beautiful dark purple jelly with a blue flash/shimmer, a scattered holographic effect in the sunlight, and big flecks of green glitter.  It is a stunner!  Took 3 coats for it to be completely opaque, and it dried fairly quickly in under five minutes to a shiny finish.  It is a really pretty polish that was easy to applicate and work with.

The second polish is called, "...Is Boring."

Outdoors

Indoors

...Is Boring is anything BUT boring!!  This polish is a beautiful blue linear holographic with big flecks of gold glitter, though those got completely overtaken by the holographic effect.  Opaque in two coats, the polish dried to a shiny finish quickly in under five minutes.  This color really pops inside and outside - it's a very, very fun polish!

The last of the polishes to show you today is my absolute favorite of the five mysteries, and it is called, "OMGBFD."

Outdoors

Indoors

OMGBFD is the perfect name for this polish, because Oh My Gosh, it is a VERY Big Freakin' Deal!  This color is a grey jelly packed with a linear holographic effect, an iridescent shimmer, and turquoise and purple glitters.  My eyes seriously freaked out once I stepped outside with this polish on - they had no idea where to focus!!  I used three coats to make it completely opaque, and it also dried fairly quickly to a shiny finish.  I love, LOVE this polish, and it is soooooo much fun!!  I did take two videos of the sparkly goodness of this polish, one outdoors, and one close up so you can see the glitters.  Both will be posted on my Instagram later today :)

Sadly I cannot seem to find these three colors available on her website, so my guess is they are discontinued leftovers.  The brand does have many, many more colors to choose from though, and I highly recommend browsing them, because from what I've seen so far of the polishes I received, this is a great brand!!  I'll certainly be keeping them on my radar - and here are some links so you can, too!

Princesses and Villains: Aurora & Maleficent

I've come to the conclusion that my Princesses are always gonna look like poop.  For some reason, I just can't seem to paint them well.  Oh well - you win some, you lose some!

This week's Princess/Villain set is Aurora and Maleficent from Ice Polish :)  Here you go!

Aurora is a gorgeous baby pink with a light scattered holographic effect, and Maleficent is a beautiful duochrome with a nice sparkle in the sunlight.  Maleficent was a limited edition polish and is no longer available, but Aurora is still up for grabs in the Etsy shop!

Tomorrow is the next round of You-Pick-My-Art!!  Be sure to check my Facebook Page and vote for your favorite!  See you soon <3

*NOTE:  One of these two polishes was a prize for winning a giveaway.  While it was not purchased, it was NOT supplied for the purposes of a review.  Links are NOT affiliate (i.e. I do not get any sort of kickback when you click on them through my blog),  I simply provide them for your convenience :)

Polish Post: Sassy Polish "Frolicking Fairies," "Candy Clouds," & "Crazy Eyes" Swatches and Review

Well I am back home, safe and sound from my outing :)  Had a lovely time, but it's good to see my boys again ^_^

Sorry for the absence of a post yesterday, I was busy packing, checking out of my hotel, checking in for my flight, and finding my gate in the large airport - and dealing with security thinking my gouda cheese was some sort of weapon.

Since I had no time to do nail art (nor did I pack tools and supplies to do any), instead of another Princess/Villain set I have a fairly new indie polish brand to share with you called Sassy Polish & Scrubs.  I recently purchased a few of polishes by the brand, three of which I am showing you today!
First up - "Frolicking Fairies:"

Outdoors

Indoors

Frolicking Fairies is a medium blue with lots of purple, white, silver, pinkish, and blue glitters - at least from what I saw :P  The formula is a bit thick (I suspect because it's gotta hold all that glitter), but the color is still a bit thinner.  I used three coats in the picture, though you can still see the whites of my nails - 4 coats ought to make it fully opaque, but it will be thick.  Drying time was under 5 minutes, and the polish dried to a semi shiny finish.  It's a really pretty blue color, and I like that it's more on the subtle side, even with all the glitter.  It sparkles very well in the sun without being "loud" about it.  If you're looking for a pretty, more modest sparkly blue polish, this one is the way to go!  I love the little matching polish ring she included, too ^_^

The second polish is called, "Candy Clouds:"

 Outdoors

Indoors

Candy Clouds is a really pretty pearly white with lots of little purple, blue, green, and silvery glitters.  This polish would look gorgeous in one thin coat underneath matte white French tips :)  Candy Clouds also seems to have the same type of formula and application as Frolicking Fairies.  I am again wearing three coats in the pictures.

Last up is my favorite of the bunch - "Crazy Eyes:"

Outdoors

Indoors

Crazy Eyes is based off the character "Crazy Eyes" from the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black.  The polish is a beautiful plum purple with a linear holographic effect in the sunlight.  The formula was thinner with this polish than the others, so it was a lot easier to work with.  Three coats made it fully opaque, and it dried to a lovely shiny finish in under 5 minutes.  There was no staining around the cuticles, either, which is also really nice.  The color is beautiful in sunlight with that holographic effect, and a really rich color indoors.  I really like it :)

Overall, I'd say my experience with the polish is pretty good, especially considering this brand is still fairly new.  I will be keeping the brand on my radar for future purchases for sure :)

Now that I'm back, I will have more posts and nail art for you in the next few days ^_^  And tomorrow is a round of You Pick My Art on my Facebook Page, so keep your eyes peeled!

See you soon <3
