M Polish Winter 2015 Collection - Part 2

***Press Sample***

I'd offer a clever meme for today, but most of the "funny" Wednesday ones either contained a very annoying Camel or some grotesque image I really, really didn't need to see...

So!  On we go to drool over the remaining 3 polishes in the new Winter 2015 collection by M Polishes!

Please note that I wore OPI's Nail Envy as a base coat and Digital Nails Ain't Nobody Got Time For That topcoat in each photo.

First up: Figgy

Figgy is a lovely purple jewel-toned scattered holographic polish.  I wore it here over Zoya's "Tiana" using images from JQ-L09 plate and owl charms on my ring finger from Daily Charme.

Next up: Joy

Joy is a gorgeous blue jewel-toned scattered holographic polish shown here stamped over Zoya's "Lillian" (and Lillian stamped over Joy on my middle and ring fingers) using an image from Sailor plate 07 by MoYou London.  The ship and sea dragons are freehanded.

Last up: Cranberry

Cranberry is a nice maroon jewel-toned scattered holographic polish, shown here over Chick Polish "Doll Face" using images from Pro plate 05 by MoYou London and a butterfly charm from Daily Charme.

I love love LOVE the sparkle in all three of these!!  Cranberry even seems to flash a little blue in some angles!  They're really gorgeous, and the scattered holo effect really makes them stand out as a stamping polish from the rest.  I definitely recommend picking these up!  Here are some links for you:

M Polish will be having a Black Friday sale and will be re-stocking a lot of the sold out products - so if you've seen one from this or yesterday's post that is currently sold out, stay tuned!!  The only polish NOT applicable to the sale is the charity polish You Are My Symphony.  There are more details on the sale on the IG page.

What do you think of these three?  Do any of them strike your fancy most?  Let me know in the comments!

Fun with Zoya's "Estelle" and "Aggie"

Another Friday!  Where did LAST week go?!  Oy vey, I tell ya, this week was NUTZ.  So many errands, so little time.  Thank goodness it is the weekend and we have absolutely NOTHING planned ^_^

Recently, Zoya launched two new collection for Fall, one of them is called the Flair Collection, and it is 6 jewel toned metallic polishes that are just absolutely stunning!  A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Zoya about a promo of free shipping with the purchase of three polishes.  I took advantage of that and purchased three of my favorites from the Flair Collection (hardest decision of the week).  They came in ridiculously fast and my jaw hit the floor when I looked at them in person.  I've got two to show you today - "Estelle" and "Aggie:"

Estelle is described as, "a blue on blue liquid metal with a blackened base."

I've seen a few other reviews from bloggers who applied Estelle in two coats to achieve a smooth, even look, but I only had to apply one coat to achieve that - maybe the polish thickened up in transit to me, since I live on the surface of the sun.

It's so bloody hot here.

Aggie is described as, "a gold holo flip liquid metal with bronze micro glitter."

Dunno about them "holo" apples, but it was definitely a brilliant gold with a bronze shimmer.  This one almost felt like a tamed duochrome, it was lovely.  Zoya's online description also calls it a "sheer" polish, opaque in 3 coats, but I am wearing one layer over Estelle in the photos, and it looks pretty darn opaque to me.  Again, though, HEAT.  Lots, and lots, of heat where I live.

As you can already see, I chose to do a giraffe design with these two colors.

The blue is just so brilliant and deep it makes for the perfect contrasting background with the brightness of Aggie.  I used vinyls from Up Your Nail - Disturbed Nail Vinyls for the giraffe patterning, and freehand painted the giraffe on my middle finger using acrylic paint.

This is one of the most stunning collections I've seen yet from Zoya, and I will definitely need to be picking up the other three polishes in it.  Have you snagged any of these yet?

MPolish Metallic Collection

***Press Sample***

Howdy folks!!  Today I've got 4 of the 6 new metallic stamping polishes just released by M Polish to show you!

First up is "Guilded:"

Guilded is a lovely gold metallic, shown here stamped over Zoya "Kierra" using an image from my MoYou London Geek plate 05.

Next we have "Bronze:"

Bronze is as its name suggests and is shown over Zoya "Hunter" using images from MoYou London Geek plate 03 and hand placed watch parts.

Next is "Baroque:"

Baroque is a lovely deep burgundy metallic shown over watermarbled "Bells of Ireland" and "Snowberry" (also by MPolish) and stamped using an image from Pueen plate 73.

Lastly we have "Iron:"

Iron is a dark silver/iron metallic polish shown (along with Guilded on the ring finger) over Pretty & Polished's "Sea Spray" using the Gallifreyan image from MoYou London Geek Plate 05.

I am never disappointed when using these stamping polishes - they are so ridiculously easy to work with!  I love that they cooperate with more than just one kind of stamper, as well.

There are six polishes in total (not shown is Copper, a penny colored metallic, and Elizabethan, a dark brown metallic).  You can purchase them individually at $9.50 for the 15ml full size, or $3.25 for the 5ml mini size.  You can also purchase the whole set for $54.00 for the 15ml full size, or $18.00 for the 5ml mini size.

What do you think of these?  Do you own any MPolish stamping polishes?

This Is Halloween - You Pick My Art Mummy

I know a lot of people who are super excited that Halloween is this Friday - I'm one of them ^_^  To celebrate, I have decided to upload one (or more!) Halloween-themed designs every day through Friday! :D  Let's start with last Friday's You-Pick-My-Art winner - the mummy!

I used Zoya's "Evvie" for the background color and the rest us freehand painted using acrylic paints.  I wanted to do a mummy that is not your traditional mummy wrapped in bandages and such.  Most mummies actually aren't found wrapped in bandages like that - only Egyptian royalty was really done that way.  I'm pleased with how it turned out!  I wanted it to look like it was crawling out of its coffin/grave, perhaps one that is on display in a museum!  I added a red eye to give it a real creep factor, since every time I tried just black/gray, it looked a little off.  Like I said, I'm pretty happy with it!

Here's a more creative photo, cuz I'm artsy-fartsy like that :P

Have a wonderful Monday, and keep an eye out for another Halloween-themed design tomorrow!  See you soon <3

You-Pick-My-Art Frankenstein!

Ugh, I was a total bum with this design.  I hate to say it, but I was :(  This has not been the best week so far for me and my nail art.  I feel like the universe is trying to take away any time I may have for it in the worst ways - having my washing machine break while filling up with water, causing it to overflow gallons and gallons of water into my laundry room and hallway; causing my hallway and living room to now wreak from water-soaked carpet; dealing with two small children all day that refuse to nap; one toddler that refuses to go to bed and keeps getting up every 5 minutes; the list goes on.  It's been quite a hectic few days already - and it's only Tuesday >.<

So, by the time I was able to take a breath last night, it was already 10pm.  That pretty much left me with an hour (two tops if I wanted to risk being groggy the next day) to do this Frankenstein nail art.  I chose to do a minimalistic design in the interest of time, but one that still felt like a movie poster from the 1930's when the original movie came out.  I first found my favorite image on google of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's monster:

I then pulled it up in photo shop and did some fancy settings to make it look like this:

Original Image Source: here

I used this version of the monster as the inspiration for the design you see on my nails here:

I used a speed-dry solid black by Milani for the pointer finger, Cynthia by Zoya for the middle finger, Evvie by Zoya for the ring finger, and Dove by Zoya for the thumb and pinky, with a black crackle polish on top by Barry M.  I wanted to paint "buzz" words that would have been used for the movie posters, too, and two of the most common were "Feind(ish)" and "Monster" - I couldn't fit all of the word Fiendish on my finger, so I shortened it ;)

For a forced-simplistic nail design, it's not too shabby.  Not my best, but not my worst, either.  Thank goodness I still have almost 2 weeks left of October to do some more killer Halloween-styled nail designs that have more flare to them :D

Anywho, hope you enjoyed the art!  I'll have a new blog post for you tomorrow featuring some new-to-me indies!  See you soon <3

Polish Post: Zoya Colors "CarrieAnn" and "Rihanna," and the Color Lock System

I don't know about you, but I'm having a pretty poopie Hump Day.  My kids haven't been in the best of moods.  My youngest, Eamonn, does this screech that resembles that of a howler monkey, and he uses this screech to express a range of emotions.  So I get to hear it all day long, and my neighbors get to hear it whenever our windows are open - at, you know, 6 in the morning, because now that summer is approaching here in Phoenix, the weather has decided to get a head start and send some 100+ degree weather days upon us.  In order to stay ahead of your house cooking, you either leave your windows open at night (not an option for me - my cat likes to escape), or you open them first thing in the morning.  Everyone out here has their windows open by about 5am.  So they all get to enjoy my howler monkey's tune.  It's no fun.  We could probably give the Shrieking Shack a run for its money.  I usually get a headache around 1pm on days like today.  I've already got the ibuprofin setting out in preparation.

Fortunately, last night, I had the time to try out some Zoya polishes I recently purchased, as well as the sample kit I received with my last order of their Color Lock System.  Here are pictures of the polish in direct sunlight:

CarrieAnn is the red color, Rihanna is the purple

CarrieAnn is such a beautiful, bright red that sparkles brilliantly in the sunlight.  Rihanna is a deep purple with lovely golden sparkles at certain angles.  Rihanna is much more rich and less sparkly, so it is perfect as a more subtle but striking polish.  I really like both colors, and both were opaque with 2 coats of polish.  Easy to apply, as well, since they never streaked or got thicker as I applied more coats.  Great polishes!

Now the Color Lock system was totally new to me.  The sample kit came with a mini size of their nail polish remover, anchor base coat, armor top coat, and quick-dry drops.  Their award-winning nail polish remover worked very well!  I admit I did not think it would do a great job since I was removing my Memorial Day nail polish and thought that dark blue would make a big mess.  I soaked one cotton ball in the Zoya remover, and that's all I needed, to mess or fuss!  It was awesome!  I will say, though, that it smells weird to me.  It is reminiscent of a mosquito repellent smell.  But since I always sugar scrub and wash my hands after removing polish, it didn't matter that much to me.  Something to keep in mind, though, if you are thinking of purchasing the remover (I really think you should, it's pretty fantastic!)  The anchor base coat went on nice and evenly and is not thick like so many base coats I have had before.  After applying the polish, I applied the armor top coat - again, went on very smooth and evenly.

Then the last part was the quick-dry drops.

I have never, ever seen anything like this (though I haven't really been looking) and was thrown with what to do.  The bottle itself does not have a brush with it, but comes with this little dropper instead.  I had no idea how many drops I would need, or just how fast it would dry, so it was all a little messy for me.  I think I did like 2-3 drops per nail, then the excess started dripping from my fingertips onto my clothing, and I was fussing to catch it with a cotton ball instead.  I could hear 3 Stooges music in the back of my mind as I fumbled.  Once I was done over-dropping my nails, I touched each one to see if it worked, and it appeared to do the job.  However, it leaves behind a very oily residue.  I'm not even sure if any of it stuck - I felt like it all just wiped right off my nails, that were still tender to the touch and showed fingerprints if I touched them lightly.

Overall, I'd have to say the quick-dry drops were an epic fail for me.  Now I am a bit of a klutz, and there may be proper form for the drops that I just wasn't getting.  But I will be sticking to my go-to top coat, Seche Vite, and will leave those quick-dry drops to someone a little more graceful than myself :P  Seche Vite is spectacular and leaves a beautiful shine to my nails.  I ended up putting a coat of it over my nails last night to make sure I did not have sheet prints the next morning.

Zoya is a great brand.  I have been purchasing polish from them for about 4 years now.  I remember stumbling upon them when I did a Google search for glittery nail polish.  They like to throw in lots of freebies with your orders, too.  For example, if you spend $30, you get a free bottle of nail polish remover.  On my last order, they were offering the nail polish remover AND a sample kit of their color lock system if the cart total was $30 or more.

They have a HUGE selection of polish colors and types.  The only kind they seem to lack at the moment is holographic, but other than that they have such a large variety, you're sure to find whatever color you need in many different types (solid color, glitter, texture, etc).  Here's their site: http://www.zoya.com/ and their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ZoyaNailPolish  Head on over, give them a "like," and let them know MomMrsAndMe sent you :)

That's all for now!  Hope everyone's Wednesday is going much better than mine :P  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

P.S. Just a reminder - I'm having a giveaway once my Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/MomMrsMe ) Hits 100 fans, so give the page a "like" if you haven't already and share it with your friends! The prize is winner's choice of either a $25 Amazon giftcard or a $25 Llarowe giftcard :)
