Silence Tally Mark Day

FELLOW WHOVIANS!!!

Today is an *awesome* day!!

You bet your booty I did a mani for this :D  I belong to a super fun and awesome group on Facebook called "Doctor Who And Nails" (you should totally join, we're Fantastic!) and we all decided to do a link-up for this awesome day!!!

For those of you who don't know what the bloody what I'm talking about, let me give you a brief run down.  "The Silence" is an alien race that you will only remember if you are looking at it - the second you turn away, you forget it (later on in the season, the main characters in the show began writing tally marks all over themselves whenever they saw The Silence).

On April 23rd, 2011, The Impossible Astronaut episode aired and this is when we first see The Silence.  So to honor that episode, we all created Tally Mark manis!  Here is mine!

For my mani, I used "Silence, Boy!" by Baroness X because it's ironic and also a DW themed polish, Bow Thermo topcoat by Dance Legend, and Pure Colors nail art brush #10 from What's Up Nails.

...What were we talking about again?

Hey look!!  Tally Mark Manis!! :D

MTK's Creepy Niece

***Press Sample***

People used to joke about this before we moved down here, and I just thought they were being funny.  They, uh...they weren't.  It's absolutely true.

I'm still excited though, because while it may not feel like the Fall everyone else experiences, it is cooler than 100 effing degrees - I'll take it!  And I get to start decorating my house for Halloween soon!! :D

Speaking of Halloween, I have a polish to show you today that would be perfect for the holiday!!  This one is called "Creepy Niece" by MTK Polish, and it is awesome!!

As you can see from the pics, Creepy Niece is a light green-to-dark-olive thermal polish with a purple shimmer, and it also glows in the dark!!  Opaque in 3-4 coats (depending on how thick you apply), and it dries to a shiny finish.  I used a specialty black crackle topcoat by Barry M for the tips in this mani :)

Creepy Niece will only be available for the next few months - it will be retired by the end of the year. So now would be an excellent time to pick one up for yourself :D  You can purchase Creepy Niece HERE, and browse the store to check out the other awesome polish HERE.  You can also follow the brand's Facebook page and Instagram for updates on new polishes!

What do you think of this polish?  Does it remind you of a good Fall/Halloween polish, too? :)

Shinespark Polish: The Heat Collection

***PRESS SAMPLE***

Something amazing is launching today - some jaw-dropping GORGEOUS thermals by Shinespark Polish!!  Oh, you wanna see some swatches?  I suppose I can show you some ;)  These thermals are the "heat" part of this "The Light, The Heat" collection.

*Note: In all photos, polishes are shown in 3 thin coats with HKGirl Glisten & Glow topcoat.  Any art that is present is freehanded by me.

Let's start with "Peacock:"

Peacock is a lovely turquoise/teal metallic polish that shifts from a light teal when warm to a dark teal that flashes green at certain angles when cold.

Next is "Dusk:"

Dusk is a lovely light purple with a blurple shimmer that changes to a deep dark purple when cold.

This next beauty is "Tiger Eye:"

Tiger Eye is a tan/gold metallic that shifts to a dark brown when cold.

Next is "Purple Martin:"

Purple Martin is a light purple metallic with a light blue shimmer that shifts very subtly to a darker purple when cold.

Last up is "Hummingbird:"

Hummingbird is a beautiful light green metallic that shifts to a dark forest green when cold.

The Ups: The application of these polishes was smooth as butter!  They all dried fairly quickly in under 5 minutes with no gooping or pulling of under layers.  The colors are so stunning in both states, and complement each other well.

The Downs:  Not all of the shifts were apparent - Purple Martin's was so subtle I wasn't sure if it had changed until I took a macro of it.  That was the only "issue" I came across with these polishes.

Overall:  I adore these colors!!  I love that they are metallic and rich and they really stand out nicely!  Hummingbird is my favorite of these - the shift is perfection and the greens are just gorgeous!  This collection is very unique and very beautiful!

As I stated in the beginning, the collection launched today along with the solar changing polishes (the "light" half)!  You can purchase the polishes individually at $8 for the 15ml full size or $3.75 for the 5ml mini size HERE.  If you want all the thermals of the collection, you can purchase them for $32.50 for the 15ml full size, and $17.25 for the 5ml mini size HERE.  You can also follow Shinespark polish via Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with the brand!

What do you think of these polishes?  Any of them stand out most to you?  Will you be picking any up today?

*Press Release*: I, A.M. Custom Color January Duo

***PRESS RELEASE***

Happy Tuesday!! Today I've got some swatches of the upcoming January Duo by I, A.M. Custom Color set to release on the 30th of this month.

This duo is part of a new collection by the creator called "Ashes' Favorites."  This new collection will consist of a new duo every month featuring polishes named after one of her favorite singers, and one of her favorite dancers.  January's duo will also include a shimmery pink chocolate raspberry butterfly-shaped mini lotion bar :)

So let's get to the polishes!

The first polish in this duo is called "Prima Assoluta," named for Alessandra Ferri - the creator's favorite ballerina :)

Prima Assoluta is a beautiful pink jelly full of rainbow micro flakies and glitters.  This polish dried in under five minutes to a lovely shiny finish.  I am wearing three coats in the photos above, with the brand's DiamondPRO topcoat.

The second polish is a thermal called "The Rain," named after the song by Calvin Harris:

Outdoors, Warm State

Transition

 Cold State

Indoors, Warm State

 Transition

Cold State

The rain is a lovely medium blue shade when warm, and a deep, forest green when cold.  The polish is packed with ultra chameleon chrome flakies and is holographic!  It's really quite a stunner!  Opaque in three coats, it also dried in under five minutes to a nice shine.  Again, I am wearing a layer of the DiamondPRO topcoat.

The Ups: Prima Assoluta is the perfect ballerina pink polish, and is really lovely and sparkly in the sun.  Application was super smooth, too, and I love the fast drying time.

The Rain is one of the most beautiful thermals I've seen!  I am personally a fan of blues and greens, so this thermal was pretty much meant for me - especially since it also has chrome flakies and is holographic!  I appreciated the smooth application and quick drying time in this polish, as well.

The Downs:  I had no issues with these polishes - the formula is solid, application is smooth, and quick dry time.  Big two thumbs up from me!

I am very impressed with this brand, and definitely recommend you check them out!  Here are some links for you:
